El Yeso Dam
After months of being closed for renovations, this touristic spot located in the heart of the Cajón del Maipo, reopens to the public.
Embalse El Yeso is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Metropolitan Region, which now extends over 16,000 hectares, offering a renewed experience for national and foreign visitors.
Among the new features are the improvements of the trails, as well as the opening of the reservoir's curtain, from where the impressive lagoon can be contemplated. The new Laguna Negra trail was also inaugurated, offering hikers a trekking experience with unequaled views of the reservoir.
For now, general visitors can only access to the viewpoint of the dam, while access to the Laguna Negra trail is only allowed with a certified guide or tour operator.
The opening hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 6pm, and the entrance fee is CLP$3,000 per person during the initial period. You can book your visit at Cordillera Park site.
