Closed borders and entering Chile
The closing of borders, established in March 16th as a result of the pandemic, is maintained for the Chilean territory, although there are some exceptions for the entrance; among which are included:
- Individuals with Chilean citizenship.
- Foreigners with current residence in Chile.
- Foreigners with pending residence or permanent stay ("en trámite" document).
- Passengers who are in transit and remain in the boarding area, without passing through immigration control of entry to Chile.
- Foreign parents or children of a Chilean citizen or foreigner residing regularly in Chile, who enter as tourists. In this case, it is necessary to prove it with the corresponding apostilled or legalized birth certificate.
- Foreigners who have a marriage bond or AUC (Acuerdo de Unión Civil), celebrated in Chile, with a Chilean citizen or foreigner residing regularly in the country, who enter as tourists. In this case, it must be accredited with the corresponding certificate of the Registro Civil.
- Foreigners who have a marriage bond or AUC (Acuerdo de Unión Civil), celebrated abroad, with a Chilean citizen or foreigner resident regularly in the country, who enter as tourists. In this case, it is necessary to have a consular safe-conduct, obtained after presenting a marriage certificate or AUC to the nearest Chilean consulate.
- Foreigners carrying a consular safe-conduct that allows them to enter Chile for unpostponable business purposes in national territory.
