After the earthquake that affected the central-south of Chile on saturday, the situation in Santiago, Valparaíso and Viña del Mar is returning to normal. The majority of the buildings in our area survived the 8.8 quake with minor to no damages. Basic services- electricity, water, telephone- are returning to normal. The ContactChile offices were not damaged so we are open and available at our normal office hours. We are working on getting in touch with all our clients to make sure they are ok. If you have family or friends in Chile who used any of ContactChile's services, and have not been able to get in touch with them, please do not hesitate to call us at 56-2-2641719 or send us an e mail at info@contactchile.cl and we will do our best to help in any way we can. Hot off the press: We have just published the 2010 edition of our popular Santiago de Chile map. The ContactChile team has created this handy pocket-sized map specially for foreigners. The completely revised map includes embassies, universities, supermarkets, shopping malls, swimming pools and sport clubs. Of course it contains the where-abouts of important tourist sites, the recently extended metro network and night life. Also in this edition: the main bike paths of Chile's capital. On the back there is a brief city guide with information about tourist sites, cultural events, sports, shopping, eating and going out, transportation, general information about Santiago, safety and practical tips.

One of the best known archaeological museums of Chile in San Pedro de Atacama is looking for your support in the realization of their current exhibition about the saltpeter age.

During your working holiday you will be in charge of the exhibition and the museum’s own library and will advise guests about excursions in and around San Pedro de Atacama. In return for your work you will receive accommodation and board and the chance to participate in some of the excursions for free.

Working Holiday period: as of now until 31st of March 2010

Germany is Chile's most important trade partner in Europe. This was confirmed by ExpoAlemania 2008, the biggest show of german and german-chilean companies, which took place at the end of September in Santiago. There were 165 exhibitores and 20.000 people visited the wide range of offers of German companies and institutions. ContactChile also was present with a stand informing about our housing and relocation services.
