Spanish Course Talca

The Place
Talca, a middle-sized town 250 kms south of the capital, has preserved the atmosphere of a rural center. Life seems to have a slower rhythm than in Santiago, on the fields near Talca grow fruits and vine, and the Chilean cowboys called Huasos are proud of their horse. Within a short while you reach the Andes ,with its fabulous nature parks and hiking trails, or one of the countless beaches on the Pacific coast. One of the last narrow-gauge trains of Chile follows the Maule river starting in Talca and reaching Constitución on the coast.
The School
In the outskirts of Talca, at the banks of a beautiful river you will find the international guesthouse where the Spanish courses take place. The cosy hospedaje is managed by a German-Austrian couple, while Chilean professionals do the teaching. Here you will find company for hiking riding, kayaking or rafting tours, or you can just lie at or in the swimmingpool in the afternoon. The course is combined with accommodation in different categories (see below).
The Spanish Lessons
Spanish is being taught according to the participants' level. From six students onwards, there is a second teacher which allows to split different language levels. When the sun shines (and it does at least from November till April), classes can be held outside, too. There are four units (45 mins. each) daily, from 9 to 12, Monday to Friday.

All prices include seven overnights, breakfast and transfer from the bus terminal and back.

Starting from the guesthouse, frequent tours explore the region and its vineyards, beaches, and colonial villages as well as the Andes, e.g. the National Parks Altos de Lircay or Siete Tazas, the spectacular Descabezado Grande volcano and other hikes. Whitewater fans may rent a kayak (or take beginner classes) or book a rafting trip on one of the rivers, and those who like horses can organize a riding tour. Most of these activities can be done with an experienced provider, or on your own.
In the evenings, the owners like to show slides form their multiple trips in South America, to gather around a camp-fire or to look at the stars with a telescope.
