The Place
Pichilemu is Chile’s Surf Capital located only 3.5 hours by bus from Santiago on Chile’s rural coast. The place is known for its deep huaso (cowboy) culturem but most famous for its spectacular beaches with beginner to advanced surfing waves. In addition to surfing, students can spend their off time mountain-biking, kayaking, learning to kite-surf, horseback riding, and visiting near-by wineries and local artisans. Pichilemu is a small town but does have a hospital, many restaurants, internet cafes, pubs, and discos. Everything in Pichilemu is within walking distance.
The School
Our school is located in the historic district of Pichilemu in a large house built around 1920. You are welcome to use the reception area for studying, watching movies, exchanging books, drinking coffee, eating muffins, and socializing. You can choose to stay with home stay families, in cabins with kitchens or at hotels/hostels.
The Spanish Lessons
The school uses a variety of US college texts (Destinos, Mosaics, Panorama) combined with many other activities and workbooks to make a complete, customized course for each group or person. The teachers are college educated and have backgrounds in either teaching English, teaching Spanish, Spanish literature or translation. They are creative, patient people who will work with your needs. The classes are personalized and group class students must be at a similar level. While the instructors speak English, the school prefers that they don’t speak English during class. The quickest and most effective way to learn a language is immersion - inside and outside the classroom.
Normally, classes are on Monday to Friday, with some units in the morning and some in the afternoon, so there is enough time left to repeat and relax. The learning speed is determined by you. Grammar basics are taught by means of useful practical vocabulary. After a few units you will already experience the first success.
