The Place
Iquique, without doubt the most attractive
city in the north of Chile and also one of the
most beautiful cities of the country, is situated around
1800 km north of Santiago near the Atacama Desert. This
sunny coastal town has approximately 200,000 inhabitants
and is a favorite destination not only because of its
warm climate. Sandy beaches and the lively seaport invite to relax and to loaf. Iquique
is considered to be a paradise for paragliding, sandboarding
and surfing. From Santiago, Iquique is easy to reach by
plane or by bus.
The School
The Language school is situated close to the beach in
the center of Iquique. It was founded by a Swiss more
than 20 years ago. Besides from Spanish, English and other
languages are taught as well which gives you the opportunity
to get in contact with Chilean students. Accommodation
is in families, boarding houses or hotels.
The Spanish Lessons
The courses are organized one-on-one or in groups up to
six. Lessons are adapted to the level of knowledge and
the requirements of the students. The lessons concentrate
on the ability to communicate and combine listening comprehension,
speaking, reading and writing. The teachers are native
speakers without exception; films and practical exercises
in a supermarket or in a café animate the classes.
One lesson consists of 60 minutes!

The center of Iquique, especially the
magnificent buildings which have been built in the era
of saltpeter extraction, and the long beaches are particularly
popular. In the immediate vicinity you can visit a lot
of places of interest: the Atacama
Desert, ghost towns of the saltpeter era and huge
salt lakes. Numerous possibilities of fun
sports like windsurfing, paragliding and sandboarding
will make your stay perfect.
The language school organizes regular excursions to interesting
places in the surrounding area.
