Apostille in Chile

An Apostille is a one-step certification procedure that simplifies the current chain of legalization of foreign public documents, reducing the number of steps that citizens must perform in order to prove a document's authenticity.

From August 30, 2016 Chile will be officially part of the Apostille Convention, which means that documents issued in Chile to be used in a foreign country (currently 112 nations), shall be recognized .

Furthermore, Apostilled documents issued abroad will be also recognized in Chile, so foreigners won’t have to follow the usual and tedious path of legalization.

The Foreign Ministry which currently leads the Apostille coordination efforts, the Ministries of Education, Justice and Health and the Civil Registry and Identification Service (Registro Civil) will be entitled to make Apostille certifications.
