Torres del Paine National Park: Limited daily access to the Torres del Paine circuit

National Park Authority Conaf just notified the limited access to the circular walk around the Paine massif (also called O circuit) in Torres del Paine National Park. Starting on February 15th, only 80 people per day will be allowed to pass the section between the camp Coirón and camp Paso, and it will be not be permitted to hike the other direction from camp Paso towards the East. Anyone wishing to do the O circuit must reserve at the park entrance Laguna Amarga or in one of the Conaf offices in Puerto Natales (Baquedano 847) or Punta Arenas (Av. Bulnes 0299).

Conaf justified the new measure with the increase in the visitor numbers. Only in January, 47,290 tourists visited the park, 15% more than during the same period last year; 6000 of them have completed the circuit.
